Adventure Care is a Children’s home offering activity based crisis intervention and longer term placements for children aged 9-16 years. We provide a one staff to one child ratio twenty four hours a day, which can increase to two or three to one to manage behaviour.

There are normally three children in placement at any one time. This could be a house, tent, cottage, static caravan, bunk house or other accommodation. The type of accommodation will depend on how long a child has been at Adventure Care and what any risk assessments of the child would suggest.

Adventure Care provides education to each child. This is comprised of adventure based outdoor activities, life skills and full time education in line with the national curriculum. This is done on a one to one basis.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Registered Home Manager to support and drive the service forward, promoting and delivering the highest possible standard of care to vulnerable children. Acting as the senior professional person within the staff team, you will ensure that all aspects of care and support delivered are complaint with current legislation and that high quality care is embedded within the culture of the team.

As the Registered Home Manager you will overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Home which includes:

  • Development, implementation and monitoring of individual care plans
  • Maintenance of a safe, secure and homely environment
  • Leadership and guidance of an established staff team
  • Staff training and development
  • Recruitment and induction of new staff

Essential Skills:

  • Level 3 (or above) Diploma in Leadership & Management and to be willing to work towards the Level 5 Diploma and be committed to achieving this within a given time frame
  • Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People’s Services) or a recognised Social Work qualification
  • Competent and experienced at managing children and young people who exhibit very challenging emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Innate leadership qualities derived from excellent inter and intra-personal skills, with ability to develop trust, rapport, influence and credibility with the children and the staff team
  • An understanding and appreciation of the priority of setting strict boundaries, a highly structured routine and consistency of practice
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of current legislation and OFSTED requirements
  • A willingness to develop Mountain Leader NGBA
  • An understanding and appreciation of therapeutic camping and adventurous outdoor activities and the benefits this brings to young people
